HeliFest was founded in 2012 by RC helicopter pilot Grant Cooper. After discovering his love for flying in 2008, Grant was competing and demonstrating in numerous UK events.

​

After attending the 3DX Cup at Weston Park in 2010, and the Zone Format in 2011 he saw the potential for something new – a dedicated heli event that welcomed all pilots, no matter their level. The following year, Helifest was born.

​

In the first years of Helifest, Jason Platts used to run the UBF flight training on site at Helifest,offering public and pilots first hand experience of flying RC helicopters.

​

Judging in some of the world's largest competitions, Jason is world renowned for his integrity and proffesionalism. He has since become a key partner in Helifest, working tirelessly alongside Grant to put on the event year after year.

From the very beginning, HeliFest has been about inclusivity, passion, and fun. It’s a space where anyone can fly, learn, compete, connect and enjoy the RC heli hobby without the pressure of serious competition.
